Awarded the South Tyrol Sustainability Label – Level 1

The natural landscape surrounding the Ultental Valley is a precious treasure. For this reason, we are committed to using resources responsibly and contributing to a more sustainable future.

Vitalhotel Rainer has been awarded the South Tyrol Sustainability Label – Level 1. This certification confirms our commitment to sustainable tourism and demonstrates that we implement concrete measures in the areas of environmental protection, regional sourcing and social responsibility.

South Tyrol Sustainability Label – Level 1

What sustainability means to us:

  • responsible use of energy and resources
  • preference for regional products
  • cooperation with local businesses and producers
  • respect for nature, landscape and people
  • continuous improvement of our sustainability initiatives/li>

For us, the sustainability label is not only an award but also a motivation to continue improving step by step – in harmony with the nature of the Ultental Valley and with responsibility towards future generations.

Our concrete measures

We use electricity from South Tyrolean hydropower provided by Alperia and heat the hotel with district heating from local wood in Ultental, supplied by the heating plant in St. Walburg.

We also pay close attention to a conscious use of water resources – for example through water-saving toilet systems and by encouraging our guests to reuse towels multiple times.

When it comes to food, we place great importance on regional sourcing and short supply chains. Eggs come from Egghof, cheese and dairy products from South Tyrolean producers, speck from Proveis, and our wines are mainly from South Tyrol. At breakfast, we offer organic apple juice from local farms and, wherever possible, try to avoid unnecessary packaging for products such as honey or Nutella.

Many products are homemade: syrups and herbal and fruit juices such as elderflower, mint, herbs, raspberry, pine, or currant are made using herbs and fruit from our own garden. All jams are also homemade, and depending on the season we use vegetables and salads from our garden.

Throughout the hotel, we pay close attention to waste separation and reduce plastic use as much as possible. Drinks are mainly served in glass or reusable bottles, and fresh spring water is provided in carafes in the rooms. For cleaning, we use eco-certified detergents and laundry products with careful, reduced dosing.

Sustainability also means conscious mobility for us. Therefore, our guests receive the Mobilcard for free use of public transport in South Tyrol. In addition, we raise awareness among our guests during hikes to respect nature and the alpine environment.
The sustainability label is not only a recognition for us, but also an incentive to continue our journey step by step – in harmony with the nature of the Val d’Ultimo and with responsibility towards future generations.
